The Women’s Canadian Club, London first established our yearly Emerging Leaders Award for Grade 10 and 11 students in 2015. We are pleased to offer this award to four students whose activities demonstrate leadership in both school and community. The students are chosen by the Civic section of the Student Services Dept. of their respective Boards. This year we are delighted to recognize the following four students for their dedication to leadership:

On Wednesday October 12, 2022, we were delighted to welcome the winners of the Emerging Leaders award(s) from High Schools across the area.

Thank you to Jana Almajali, Amelia Bailey, Emily Dell, and Machaila Wesch-Dawson for their outstanding presentations on why they were selected for this leadership award by their schools. We wish you continued success in your future endeavours.

Jana Almajali- Westminster Secondary School: I am a grade 11 student at Westminster Secondary School. I aspire to study engineering at Western University, where I hope to combine my love of science and technology with my passion for giving back to the community in meaningful ways. I enjoy playing many sports such as basketball, volleyball, and badminton. Additionally, I am involved in student government and radio club where I provide the morning announcements.

Amelia Bailey – Saunders Secondary School: I am a grade 11 student at Saunders Secondary School. I love to volunteer in my community and give back to others. Some of the organizations that I volunteer with are the London Food Bank, Project Hope London and Sending Sunshine. I work hard in school and I take pride in my academic performance. I am proud and grateful to be one of the recipients of the Emerging Leaders Award!

Emily Dell – Central Elgin Collegiate Institute: Hello, my name is Emily Dell and I am a grade 12 student at Central Elgin Collegiate Institute in St. Thomas. I love the Dramatic arts and Sociological studies, and I actively enjoy being part of my school’s activities such as Student Council, Minister of Media Relations and Student Trustee elections for TVDSB.

Machaila Wesch-Dawson – Monsignor Bruyere School: I’m 16 years old and I attend Monseigneur Bruyère High School. I do triathlon, speed skating, cross country, and track and field. I also volunteered on the student council at my school as president in grade 10 and 11, and as minister of mental health in grade 9. I also volunteer at West London Pet Hospital and with the cross country and track and field teams at my school.
