DESCRIPTION:Topic: “Dr. Jean Hewitt & ‘The Suffragettes’: A Century for Women” \nJean Hewitt has been a teacher\, leader and author in Canada and England for over fifty years. Her post-graduate work was completed at the University of Toronto and Wayne State University in Michigan. Her undergraduate work in Science was completed in England at the University of Leeds (1960)\, and in Canada at Western. Jean has held a variety of administrative positions in Education\, including Vice-Principal\, Principal and Superintendent. She has lectured at a number of universities\, including Western\, McMaster and Lakehead\, and she has served as a Senior Project Officer with the Ontario Ministry of Education in Toronto. Jean wrote the first script for the Famous Five suffragists in 2007. In 2013\, she formed a troupe of retired women in London to perform this script in the community as part of public education. Since then\, the troupe has gone on to perform in a number of venues and the repertoire has expanded to include some monologues on other famous Canadian women.
